CHARACTER
Name: Findilay Race: Human Nationality: Fereldan, technically. Mage?: Nah. Age: 18ish. Affiliation: Nobody, which controversially means everybody. He just doesn't have strong opinions and prefers to 'think positive'. Occupation: Outlaw, archer, idiot.
Goal: Voice-testing to see if he sticks, also good god I'd like to have a character who isn't mired in deep emotional issues and trauma, etc. If Findilay doesn't work out, I have a plan to kill him off dramatically 😉
About:
Findilay is an outlaw: he lives in Ferelden but belongs to no official citizenry, lives off the land (illegally), and can be killed on sight with no penalty if someone recognizes him as an outlaw. This is because his parents were outlaws and raised him to be the same; they did something illegal and ran off into the woods like assholes, and when they had Findilay, they introduced him to a life of living off the land, poaching and stealing food to survive. He idealizes this lifestyle, and loves living without ties to any government or feudalistic structure. As such, though he roamed the Fereldan countryside, he feels no real loyalty to its government, or any real sense of national pride.
He eats up stories and songs of heroes and knights, though, anything sweeping and romantic. As such, he tries very hard to 'do good'. He's not great at critical thinking in general; he just tries to 'do good' and 'be heroic', whatever that means in the moment. He is, in short, a very happy idiot.
Due to his life as an outlaw, he's accidentally developed some radical political opinions, not that he thinks of them as such. He just has to question the ownership of land or anyone's right to tell anyone else what to do. Technically, he's some kind of hippy proto-anarchist, but he doesn't know what any of those words mean and honestly he'd prefer to discuss how to make the perfect coney stew. (Which involves stealing or poaching all the ingredients but like, that's not a bad thing, how can you, like, own a turnip. The earth made it! Checkmate, atheists.)
Recently, he was trekking through the woodlands near the Waking Sea Bannorn in northern Ferelden when a rift opened. He managed to either dispatch or outrun the demons, but found a shard embedded in his wrist. As he needs his wrist to shoot arrows, he figures he ought to get it out? Or something? He asked around and stowed away on the nearest ship, and it took him altogether way too fucking long to get to Kirkwall, but he did.
